Jakob Olinder

My work gives me the possibilities of combining clinical work, education and research. My research career started during my final year at medical school and thereafter expanded into PhD-studies in radiology and breast cancer screening. My interest in radiology and imaging methods together with breast cancer being one of the most common types of cancer is what caught my attention and made LUCI the perfect fit. As for many others, breast cancer has been all too present in my personal life and this gives me further inspiration and feeling of meaningfulness to our research. 

My PhD-studies with the project – The potential of breast tomosynthesis in an individualized screening program - will leap from the Malmö Breast Tomosynthesis Screening Trial material. Projects include analyzing false positive recalls, differences in screening performance depending on breast density and other factors involving individual risk of breast cancer. The main goal is improving breast cancer screening for all women and to research the potential of doing this by individualizing screening.
