Possible benefits of synthetic mammography

My PhD project is a result of an international collaboration between Lund University and Siemens Healthineers. The focus with the project is investigating the possible benefits of synthetic mammography (SM) as supplemental imaging technique to digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) in a screening setting. The goal of using SM is to add additional information to the radiologist and help improve decision making in a screening environment. SM does not add any additional radiation dose and may be a great tool to use as an adjunct to DBT in a future screening methodology. Due to the large amount of data collected during the Malmö breast tomosynthesis screening trial (MBTST), we can easily set up reader studies and collect data.
